Born out of the Mountain | Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition in 2022, our organization was created as a dedicated service partner by Native CDFIs for Native CDFIs. Although we are an independent entity, we work closely with Coalition members and are actively engaged in Coalition activities and initiatives.

Founded in February 2020, the Mountain | Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition leverages collective knowledge, skills, assets, and partnerships to build and strengthen equitable platforms that support connected and thriving Indigenous economies in the four-state region of North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming.

As a network of mission-driven financial institutions, Coalition members share foundational values, beliefs, and behaviors and are committed to strength-based approaches, uplifting Indigenous innovation and leadership. Individually and in partnership with each other, they are successfully deploying capital into previously under-resourced rural and Native markets, resulting in measurable economic growth across the region.

Together, Coalition members serve dozens of tribal communities and thousands of Native clients, delivering millions of dollars in loans, business support, and community development programs each year.

The Mountain | Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition is successfully deploying capital into previously under resourced rural and Native markets, resulting in job growth and wealth creation. As of 2024, the Mountain | Plains Coalition collectively maintains a 1.32% default rate, which exceeds the national average by three times.

Fortifying the Indigenous finance industry to drive systems change, expand access to capital, and redistribute wealth, impacting Indigenous people across North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming.
